Job summary

TeacherActive Limited. is partnering with a SEND school in Stourbridge to recruit a Learning Support Assistant. The role supports pupils with Autism (ASD) and complex needs in classroom and practical settings, including outdoor and vocational activities.

The position is long-term with an ASAP start. You will work in a nurturing environment, helping learners access education through meaningful, hands-on learning and by building positive relationships with pupils and staff.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable).
• Experience working as an LSA or in a SEND support role.
• Experience supporting children with Autism (ASD) and complex learning needs.
• Strong behaviour management and the ability to build positive relationships.
• Confidence supporting outdoor learning and vocational activities.
• A patient, resilient and adaptable approach.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with ASD and complex needs in class and during practical activities.
• Assist with outdoor learning and vocational sessions to promote independence.
• Support pupils to develop confidence and life skills in a nurturing environment.

Job description

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a highly engaging SEND school in Stourbridge that provides a broad and practical curriculum, with a strong focus on outdoor learning and vocational experiences. This LSA role is based within a nurturing and structured environment where pupils are supported to develop independence, confidence and essential life skills.

This long-term LSA position is available for an ASAP start. The successful LSA will be supporting pupils with Autism (ASD), mild learning difficulties and more complex needs, both in the classroom and through practical, off-site and vocational activities. The LSA will play a key role in helping learners access education in a meaningful and accessible way.

The successful LSA will have:

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable)
• Experience working as an LSA or in a similar SEND support role
• Experience supporting children with Autism (ASD) and complex learning needs
• Strong behaviour management and the ability to build positive relationships
• Confidence supporting outdoor learning and vocational activities
• A patient, resilient and adaptable approach
