Job summary

Vision for Education is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to support children and young people with Autism and complex needs in a Rochdale school. This full-time, temporary role focuses on helping pupils learn, grow and thrive in an inclusive environment.

You will join a supportive team, with term-time only hours and potential to become permanent after a qualifying period, plus access to ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Have previous experience supporting children or young people or vulnerable adults.
  • Demonstrate genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEN, including Autism and complex needs.
  • Excellent communication skills with pupils, staff and families.
  • Show emotional resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with autism and complex needs to learn, grow and thrive.
  • Collaborate with teachers to implement learning plans and strategies.
  • Create a nurturing, inclusive environment that supports pupil wellbeing.
  • Assist with daily activities and monitoring progress during lessons.

Learning Support Assistant(full-time, temporary)
Rochdale
£463 - £500 per week PAYE (salary is dependent on experience and/or qualifications)
Start date: September 2026


The School and Role

This is a highly rewarding, hands-on role where your dedication and skills will directly impact pupils’ growth, confidence, and well-being. You’ll work alongside a passionate, experienced team in modern, purpose-built facilities based in Rochdale, that provide the ideal environment for SEN professionals to grow and make a positive impact to the lives of children with SEND.


This is a term-time only role with strong potential to become permanent following a successful qualifying period, alongside access to ongoing training and professional development. This role is ideal for candidates seeking meaningful SEN experience and long-term opportunities within special education

To be considered for thisLearning Support Assistant role, you will:



  • Have previous experience supporting children or young people or vulnerable adults

  • Have a genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEN, including Autism, learning disabilities, sensory impairments or complex needs

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills with pupils, staff and families

  • Show emotional resilience and adaptability, remaining patient and positive in a fast-paced, sometimes challenging environment

  • Be reliable, proactive and committed to making a positive impact in a specialist education setting.
