Job summary

The Education Network Birmingham is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant for a specialist SEND school in Atherstone. This permanent, full-time role focuses on enabling pupils to access learning, build independence and achieve EHCP outcomes.

You will work with teachers, therapists and a multidisciplinary team in a nurturing environment, providing personalised support and helping pupils develop confidence, communication and social skills.

Qualifications

  • ALEvel3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Genuine passion for supporting children and young people with SEND.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personalised support to pupils with a range of SEND.
  • Support learning both inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists and other professionals.
  • Assist pupils toward their EHCP outcomes.
  • Support communication, independence and emotional development.
  • Foster positive relationships and resilience.
  • Support positive behaviour and safeguarding strategies.
  • Adapt approaches to meet sensory and learning needs.
  • Assist with activities on-site and off-site.
  • Engage with families and colleagues to support pupil progress.

Job description

Learning Support Assistant - Specialist SEND School

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

Salary: £20,000 - £25,000 actual annual salary

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people to overcome barriers, build confidence and achieve their full potential? The Education Network Birmingham is working with a specialist SEND school in Atherstone to recruit a dedicated Learning Support Assistant for a permanent, full-time position.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a specialist therapeutic school where relationships, wellbeing and individual progress are at the heart of the provision. You will work closely with teachers, therapists and a wider multidisciplinary team to provide personalised support both in and outside of the classroom.

The school supports pupils with a range of SEND, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, communication difficulties and sensory processing differences. You will play an important role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence and work towards their individual EHCP outcomes.

This is much more than a traditional classroom support role. You will build trusted relationships with pupils, support positive behaviour and safeguarding strategies, and help create a calm, nurturing environment where every young person feels understood and able to succeed.

The Role
