Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

Salary: £20,906.25 per annum

Location: School For Inspiring Talents, Devon, TQ12 1NH

Contract: Permanent; Term Time Only

Hours: 37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm

About The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant based at our Newton Abbot / Ashburton school(s), you will be a key member of our team, enhancing the education of our students. This is a great opportunity in a growing school with excellent opportunities to build experience working with young people with Social, Emotional & Mental Health difficulties (SEMH).

The role will be challenging but rewarding, working in a dynamic environment where you can make a real difference. You will be expected to lead the teaching of and coordinate flexible, person-centred programmes of study for individuals and groups of pupils. You should demonstrate a practical, hands-on approach to teaching and be prepared to go above and beyond for the young people we support.

Following a Thorough Induction Programme, Your Duties Will Include:
  1. Work under the guidance of the Deputy Principal and class teacher in planning and implementing work programmes with individuals or groups of pupils with special needs.
  2. Provide general support to the class teacher in managing and organizing pupils with special needs in the classroom.
  3. Assist in creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly, and supportive learning environment.
  4. Promote the inclusion of all pupils, ensuring they have equal opportunities to learn and develop.
  5. Responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school.
Key Skills Required
  1. Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  2. Experience working with relevant age groups within a learning environment.
  3. Experience working with children with additional needs.
  4. Experience of general clerical/administrative work.
  5. Training in relevant strategies in curriculum or learning area.
