Job description

Learning Support Assistant – 37 hours per week, term-time – To start in September 2025

Strode College is looking for a colleague who can support our students as they develop employability skills, achieve their learning ambitions, and gain the personal and social skills they need to prepare for the next stage in their lives.

You’ll be working with students with learning difficulties or disabilities from Entry Level to Advanced Level to provide in-class support with a focus on learning with individual and/or groups of students, general support across the campus and in the workplace as required. Experience of working with sensory impairment, physical disability, mental health, challenging behaviour, ASD or SpLD is desirable.

You must have a good knowledge of learning difficulties and disabilities whilst having excellent inter-personal and communication skills.

Contractual Details

Rate of Pay or Salary: £23,915 pro rata per annum (actual salary £19,592 per annum)

Working Time: 37 hours per week for 36 weeks term time

Contract Type: Permanent

Pension: Local Government Pension Scheme

Please note:the published salary and terms and conditions are effective until the 31st of July 2025 when it is proposed that Strode College will merge with Bridgwater & Taunton College from the 1st of August 2025. Appointments from the 1st of August will be subject to a change in terms and conditions and details of this will be confirmed at interview and in any subsequent offer of employment.
