Job summary

Brownlow Primary School in Melton Mowbray is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support a Reception class in Early Years on a fixed-term basis until 20 August 2027. The role is term-time only (39 weeks) with five inset days; hours are to be discussed with the school.

You will assist teaching and learning activities, supporting individuals or small groups. Experience with SEN and safeguarding knowledge are essential; NVQ Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent, and Level 2

We are seeking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant for a fixed term period until 20th August 2027 to work in a Reception Class in our Early Years at Brownlow School. Monday - Friday, term time only plus the 5 inset days (39 weeks). Specific hours can be discussed with the schools directly.

We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Learning Support Assistant who will work as an assistant in the classroom under the guidance of the class teacher and support from our team members.

We are looking for someone who is reflective and skilled and can motivate and encourage children as required. You might want to consider this as a stepping stone into teaching and apply to train within our Academy Trust or you might want to develop your role across our schools in the future within a specific area such as behaviour support, ASD children or pastoral needs.

You will be required to provide support for teaching and learning activities. This may include providing general support for whole class learning activities or supporting individuals or small groups of pupils to reinforce new skills or knowledge.

Experience of working with children with SEN and knowledge of Child Protection and Health and Safety policies are essential.

It would be desirable that you have an NVQ Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent or some experience of working with children. Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English are essential, or currently working towards. Along with good interpersonal skills, you will be emphatic with children and young people, and be able to work effectively as part of a whole school staff team.
