  • Provide support with behaviour management, using de-escalation techniques and reinforcing positive behaviour strategies to help children manage their emotions and reactions.
  • As a Teaching Assistant, help create a calm, structured classroom environment that encourages learning and supports students with additional needs.
  • Support children with LD and EBD in developing social and communication skills, promoting inclusion and positive peer relationships.
  • Assist in monitoring progress and providing feedback to the class teacher on how interventions are impacting student learning and behaviour as a Teaching Assistant.

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant with children who have Learning Disabilities (LD) and Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
  • A relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of LD and EBD needs, with the ability to implement strategies to support academic and emotional development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
  • A patient, empathetic approach to working with children who require additional support, with a genuine passion for their learning and wellbeing as a Teaching Assistant.

Desirable

  • Experience using specific strategies for managing behaviour, such as Restorative Practices or Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
  • Knowledge of interventions for Learning Disabilities (LD), including assistive technology or differentiated teaching methods.
  • Familiarity with supporting students with EBD in managing their emotions and behaviours in both classroom and social settings.
  • Experience working with a multidisciplinary team, including SENCOs and external professionals, to support children with additional needs.
  • Understanding of how to prepare children for transitions, including assessments, school events, or changes in routine, as a Teaching Assistant.

What We Offer

  • A rewarding role where your work as a Teaching Assistant will make a real difference in the lives of children with Learning Disabilities (LD) and Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
  • Competitive salary, based on experience, with opportunities for further development and pay progression.
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities, including training in SEN strategies and behaviour management techniques.
  • A collaborative, supportive working environment where your contributions as a Teaching Assistant are appreciated and valued.
  • Opportunities to work alongside a team of specialists, including SENCOs, therapists, and behavioural experts, to improve outcomes for students.
