Job summary

Grade A Recruitment Ltd are partnering with a specialist SEN school in King's Lynn to appoint a Learning Support Assistant on a long-term supply basis. The role is full-time with immediate start and may become permanent for the right candidate, with part-time applications also considered.

You will support pupils with SEMH and additional learning needs, assist teachers with engaging activities, and help foster a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment. DBS check will be required.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN, SEMH or support-based setting.
  • Patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEMH and additional learning needs both in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive learning activities.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation and wellbeing.
  • Build strong and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Support the implementation of individual learning and behaviour plans.
  • Help create a safe, positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and wider support teams.

Overview

Grade A Recruitment are working with a specialist SEN school in King's Lynn who are looking to appoint a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a long-term supply basis.

This full-time role is available for an immediate start until Christmas 2026, although part-time applications of 3 or more days per week will also be considered. There is also the opportunity for the position to become permanent for the right candidate.

The school describes itself as “a therapeutic SEMH Special School offering full time education and therapeutic support.” They focus on the whole child, placing strong importance on mental health and wellbeing, and encourage pupils to be their authentic selves while developing self‑awareness, emotional literacy and confidence.

This would be an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs within a nurturing and therapeutic school environment.

  • A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning
  • Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential
