Job summary

BHASVIC (Brighton Hove & Sussex Sixth Form College) is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join the college’s Additional Learning Support Department. You will support students across A level and BTEC Level 3 courses, including those resitting Maths or English GCSE.

The role offers a fixed-term maternity cover, part-time hours (34 per week, 39 weeks per year), with a pro-rata salary of £25,150. Flexible start and finish times between 8am and 5pm, and LGPS membership are included.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting students with A level or BTEC Level 3.
• Interest in SEND and barriers to learning.

Responsibilities

• Support students in a range of subjects at A level or BTEC Level 3, and assist with Maths or English GCSE resits.
• Work with colleagues in the Additional Learning Support Department to help students access learning and achieve outcomes.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is interested in a career in the post 16 sector. It provides the opportunity to gain an insight and understanding of SEND and other barriers to learning. Training opportunities are available, and the successful candidate will work alongside an experienced team who are supportive and happy to share their expertise.

Contract details

• Fixed term, maternity cover
• Part time, 34 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time)
• Working pattern: Flexible with start and finish times between 8am and 5pm Monday - Friday.
• The pro-rata salary is £25,150 (based on Grade 5, spine point 15 in the Support Staff Pay Spine for which full-time salary is £32,199 per annum).
• 5.2 weeks holiday pay included in pro rata salary
• You will automatically become a member of the Local Government Pension scheme http://www.eastsussexpensionfund.org
