Are you ready for an exciting change and a rewarding challenge? Would you like to channel your exceptional skills into supporting students with complex needs who find learning difficult? We need your passion, creativity, and innovation to help them thrive! At Hatton Special School, we offer you not just a job, but a fulfilling opportunity to make a real difference in their lives. Join us and be a part of this transformative experience!

Hatton is a large primary special school located in the London Borough of Redbridge, outer London. Our pupils, aged 3 to 11, have a variety of complex needs, including autism, social communication difficulties, Down syndrome, and other learning challenges. In November 2018, the school received an 'outstanding' rating from Ofsted. Our pupils are remarkable and work diligently to achieve both small and significant steps of progress over time. They receive support from a dedicated team of staff who have a high value teamwork and encourage each other to develop professionally. While our staff are exceptional and have implemented some fantastic practices when working with our pupils, we are committed to continuous improvement. We consistently strive to enhance the learning opportunities we provide for our students.

We are excited to announce an opportunity for passionate individuals to join our team as Learning Support Assistants. If you have a genuine interest in making a difference in the lives of pupils with special educational needs, we want to hear from you! In this rewarding role, you will support a diverse group of students, including those with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other challenging behaviours, helping them achieve their fullest potential.

Previous experience working or volunteering with children and young people is essential, and familiarity with special educational needs or disabilities will give you a significant advantage. This role is physically engaging, and your daily tasks will include manual handling, personal care, and applying Positive Handling strategies. We are looking for dedicated, reliable, and hard-working individuals who can take initiative and collaborate effectively with our team.

  • Staff social events
  • Well-being support

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This includes the need to become familiar with school policies immediately upon appointment and to follow the school's procedures in relation to safeguarding.

This post is considered to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers. The school therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
