Job summary

King's Ford Infant School and Nursery in Colchester is seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join our Reception class. You will support pupils with a kind, patient approach and assist with the delivery of inclusive teaching in a calm, safe environment.

The successful candidate will be empathetic, able to form positive relationships with children and colleagues, and supportive of trauma-informed practice and SEN strategies as directed by the class teacher and SENCo.

Qualifications

  • Experience as Learning Support Assistant in a Reception/early years setting.
  • Ability to support inclusive teaching and differentiate for learners with SEN.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed approaches in a classroom context.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and collaborate with staff.
  • Good communication with colleagues, pupils and families.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils in the Reception class with their learning and development.
  • Build positive relationships with children and staff.
  • Assist with implementing SEN strategies under the direction of the class teacher and SENCo.
  • Maintain a calm, supportive classroom environment and help manage challenging situations.
  • Contribute to the school's vision, ethos and values.
