Job summary

Derby College Group (DCG) is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant to join our Student Experience and Pastoral team at Broomfield Hall. You will support a student on a 1-1 basis and help create an inclusive learning environment enabling equitable access to education and progression.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Knowledge of SEND Code of Practice, Equalities Act 2010 and SEND reforms (including Education, Health and Care Plans).
• Understanding of RARPA.

The Opportunity

You will provide a range of support services both inside and outside the classroom, creating an inclusive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of every student. By offering tailored assistance to students with specific inclusion and support needs, schools can ensure that each learner has equitable access to educational opportunities and the tools necessary to achieve their full potential. This support might include individualized learning plans, small group interventions, assistive technology, or collaboration with specialists to address academic, social, and emotional development. Ultimately, such comprehensive and flexible support helps students progress confidently, fostering independence and a sense of belonging across all learning settings.

About you

You are a committed and adaptable individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to join our team in supporting students with additional learning needs. Experience in providing tailored support to students and a sound understanding of the issues surrounding Additional Learning Support are essential. You should have a working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, the Equalities Act 2010, and current SEND reforms, including Education, Health and Care Plans, as well as an understanding of RARPA.
