Bishop Burton College is seeking a Lecturer in English to plan and deliver engaging lessons that bring the subject to life and help students succeed in their studies, future careers and everyday life. You will assess learning, monitor progress and adapt your teaching to meet a range of needs while promoting positive behaviour.
A degree in a relevant subject and at least one year’s teaching experience are required; a teaching qualification is desirable, with the College supporting you to obtain

You could currently be teaching English in a further education college, secondary school, sixth form, training provider or adult learning setting. You may already be an experienced lecturer or teacher looking for a fresh opportunity within a supportive college environment.
As our Lecturer in English, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons that bring the subject to life and demonstrate how strong English skills support students in their studies, future careers and everyday lives. You will assess learning, monitor progress and adapt your teaching to meet a range of individual needs and abilities. You will also manage classroom behaviour positively, maintain accurate student records and work closely with colleagues to help every learner achieve their potential.
You will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject and have at least one year’s experience in a teaching or training role. You will be an enthusiastic and creative practitioner with excellent communication skills, a positive approach and the resilience to support and motivate students who may previously have found English challenging. A teaching qualification is desirable; however, if you do not already hold one, the College will support you to obtain one.
