Job summary

onlyFE in the West Midlands is recruiting Learning Support Assistants to join our team on fixed-term contracts until June 2027, at Cadbury campus in Kings Norton, Birmingham. Roles are term time only (39 weeks) with 37 hours per week, pro-rata for term weeks.

You will support learners, develop literacy, language and numeracy, work with EHCP students, deliver one-to-one and small group sessions, and help with note-taking to keep students engaged.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above or an equivalent qualification.
  • Level 2 subject qualification is required.
  • Adaptability and resilience in a dynamic educational environment.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to work with students with a range of emotional and physical needs.
  • Desirable: qualification related to supporting others, health and social care, or teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Play a key role in supporting learners within the classroom.
  • Develop students’ literacy, language, and numeracy skills.
  • Work with students who have an Education Health & Care Plan (EHCP).
  • Ensure learners access personalised learning opportunities aligned with goals.
  • Act as a central point of contact, providing guidance and support.
  • Deliver tailored one-to-one support.

  • Provide note-taking assistance to keep learners engaged.

Are you a compassionate and inspiring individual with experience supporting high-needs students in education? As a leading Further Education college in the West Midlands, we are currently recruiting Learning Support Assistants to join our dedicated team on fixed-term contracts until June 2027, with both full-time and part-time hours available. These positions are located at our Cadbury campus in Kings Norton, Birmingham.

The roles are term time only (39 weeks). Please note that the salary advertised is based on 37 hours per week, starting from the start of the Academic Year. Your salary will be calculated based on the number of term-time weeks and the hours worked.

Key Responsibilities
  • Play a key role in supporting learners within the classroom
  • Focus on developing students’ literacy, language, and numeracy skills
  • Work closely with students who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
  • Ensure learners can access personalised learning opportunities aligned with their individual goals
  • Act as a central point of contact, providing consistent guidance and support throughout their educational journey
  • Deliver tailored one-to-one support
  • Lead small group sessions to reinforce understanding and build confidence
  • Provide note-taking assistance to help learners stay fully engaged with their studies
Skills, Knowledge And Expertise
  • Hold GCSE in English and Maths at grade C or above, or a recognised equivalent qualification (FS Level 2)
  • Hold a minimum of a Level 2 subject qualification
  • Be adaptable and resilient in a dynamic educational environment
  • Demonstrate strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Be able to work effectively with students who have a wide range of emotional and physical needs
  • A qualification related to supporting others, health and social care, or teaching would be desirable
