Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join our college team at Moulton. The role focuses on Foundation Learning, providing high-quality support to students with a mix of full-time and part-time hours.

You will work with teaching staff to enable student participation, development of confidence and practical learning skills, and support across lessons and college activities. A caring, patient and adaptable approach is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students in classrooms and across the college.
  • Support learners within Foundation Learning and other curriculum areas as required.
  • Encourage students to develop confidence, independence and practical learning skills.
  • Help students overcome barriers to learning and participation.
  • Support learners with additional learning needs, disabilities and individual support requirements.
  • Assist students with classroom activities and help them understand and complete tasks.
  • Adapt your communication and support approach to meet individual learner needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, engagement and participation.
  • Support students with personal development, communication and social skills where appropriate.
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to implement individual learning and support strategies.
  • Monitor learner progress and provide appropriate feedback to teaching and support teams.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records.
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, inclusion, dignity and student wellbeing.
  • Support students to participate in college activities and develop greater independence.
  • Contribute positively to a safe, respectful and inclusive college environment.

Learning Support Assistant


Location:Moulton, NN3


Department: Learning Support / Foundation Learning


Hours: Full-time and part-time positions available (Hours are 8:30am-5pm and 4:30pm finish on Friday)


Contract: Permanent / subject to college requirements


About the Role

We are looking for enthusiastic, caring and committed Learning Support Assistants to join our college team. The successful candidates will provide high-quality support to students across the college, with a particular focus on Foundation Learning.


This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people and adults overcome barriers to learning, develop their confidence and independence, and achieve their educational and personal goals.


You will work closely with teaching staff and other college professionals to ensure students receive the appropriate support to participate fully in lessons and college activities.

Experience

Experience in education, care, youth work, support work, childcare or a similar environment would also be valuable.


Relevant transferable experience will be considered, and we welcome applications from candidates who are passionate about supporting learners and are keen to develop their career within further education.
