Job summary

GSL Education is seeking a Learning Support Assistant in Barnsley to support pupils with their learning and day-to-day needs. You will provide one-to-one and small-group assistance, helping pupils stay engaged in lessons and contributing to a positive classroom environment.

The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, patience, and adaptability, with experience in education being advantageous. An enhanced DBS and right to work in the UK are expected.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A patient, supportive and adaptable approach.
• Ability to work effectively alongside teachers and other staff.
• A genuine commitment to helping pupils succeed.
• Experience in a school or education setting is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils.
• Assist pupils with classroom tasks and learning activities.
• Work alongside teachers to support lesson delivery and pupil engagement.
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence and positive learning habits.
• Support pupils who may need additional help with their learning or behaviour.
• Share relevant observations and feedback with teaching staff.
