Job description

This role is within a unit where Surrey Police and Sussex Police work in collaboration, whilst remaining two separate legal entities/employers with different terms and conditions.

Both Surrey Police staff and Sussex Police staff are employed in this unit on their own force terms and conditions.

Successful candidates may be appointed on the terms and conditions of employment of either Surrey Police or Sussex Police, depending on organisational requirements. A discussion will be held with the successful candidate to confirm the details of location, salary, allowances and hours.

The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

No two days are the same in People Services. It is a fast-paced environment where you are responsible for answering questions and proactively offering further advice to solve problems and help the front line to serve the public. If you can work as part of a team, provide excellent customer service with great communication skills, then this is the role for you. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone interested in a career in learning and development.

L&PD: You will be dealing with a wide range of queries, covering all aspects of training and development. This involves a diverse range of tasks such as supporting the administration of training courses from beginning to end and working with our extended LnPD colleagues to manage demand & drive efficiencies.

As an entry level assistant, you will gain valuable experience in a wide range of processes from the basic administration level, moving up to understand and advise on the policies and law that underpin these processes. You’ll be responsible for providing administrative support, responding to queries and giving basic advice to customers. Using our training administration system, your duties will include:

  • Responding to customer queries via telephone, email and face to face.
  • Managing training course demand and co-ordinating the administration process for each course, working closely with Learning and Professional Development colleagues.
  • Managing course attendees including ensuring pre-requisites are met, issuing joining instructions and monitoring attendance.
  • Following up courses including managing training and qualification records.
  • To work collaboratively within People Services and the wider workforce, providing a proactive and coordinated approach to driving continuous improvement and disseminating organisational learning.
