Job summary

Harbour School Dorset is seeking a Learning Mentor to support pupils with ASC and SEMH needs. You will help students feel safe, regulate emotions and reconnect with learning, going beyond traditional classroom support.

Progress may be slow, but the impact is meaningful. The role requires emotional resilience, patience and consistency, with term-time working and a permanent contract. Close date 31August 2026 and interview in early September 2026.

Qualifications

• Experience with young people, SEMH or ASC is helpful, but attitude and emotional intelligence are valuable.

Responsibilities

• Help students feel safe, regulate emotions, rebuild confidence and reconnect with learning.
• Focus on connection first, with academic progress as a secondary goal.
• Support students through challenges, including moments of distress or difficulty, using patience and empathy.
