Job summary

Harbour School Dorset is seeking a Learning Mentor to support students with SEMH and ASC, helping them feel safe, regulate emotions and reconnect with learning. This role is not traditional classroom support and requires patience, resilience and emotional strength.

Working 34.5 hours per week across term time with Fridays finishing at 1pm, you will build trust, celebrate small steps, and contribute to a school that values relationships, progress and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience with young people, SEMH, ASC or trauma-informed work is helpful.
• Attitude, resilience and emotional intelligence are valuable.

Responsibilities

• Help students feel safe, regulate emotions, rebuild confidence and reconnect with learning.
• This is not a traditional classroom support role; you may sit with distressed students and support them.
• Academic progress matters, but connection comes first.
• Build trust with students and celebrate small milestones.
