Job summary

Aspire People is seeking a Learning Mentor for a primary school in the B1 Area. This full-time role runs Monday to Friday with a competitive daily rate and ASAP start.

The role involves providing one-to-one and small group support, building confidence, and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning. Collaboration with teachers and pastoral teams is essential to monitor progress and wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children in a school, mentoring, youth work or support setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, caring and resilient nature.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Experience supporting children with SEND, SEMH or challenging behaviour is desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils across the school.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with children to help improve confidence and self-esteem.
  • Support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in lessons.
  • Help children develop strategies to overcome challenges both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Work closely with teachers, SEND staff and pastoral teams to support pupil progress.
  • Monitor and record pupil development, wellbeing and achievements.
