Job summary

Lindens Academy in Streetly, part of The Lighthouse Multi Academy Trust, seeks a Learning Mentor to support pupils aged 3–11 with learning, behaviour and wellbeing. The role corresponds to Level 3 Teaching Assistant, requiring independent work, targeted interventions and collaboration with staff and families.

The post focuses on safeguarding, inclusion and raising achievement for all pupils, with a welcoming, supportive team and opportunities for professional development within the Trust.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Childcare, Education or equivalent.
• Experience of working with primary-aged children.
• Knowledge of behaviour management and pupil wellbeing strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to build trusting relationships with children and families.
• A commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and raising achievement for all pupils.
• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide mentoring and pastoral support to individual pupils and small groups.
• Deliver targeted intervention programmes to support academic achievement, social skills and emotional wellbeing.
• Work with teachers to identify barriers to learning and develop strategies to overcome them.
• Support pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
• Promote positive behaviour, attendance and engagement in learning.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, families and external professionals.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and contribute to review meetings.
• Support safeguarding and child protection procedures in line with school policies.
• Assist teachers with planning and delivering learning activities where appropriate.
