Job description

Description

Plan and deliver organised workshops to students with additional learning needs to support their success, achievement, and progress. All workshops should be informed by students' needs, covering subjects such as exam skills, social skills, independence skills, employability skills, study skills, and life skills. The goal is to contribute to students' outcomes and play a key role in their success.

Work with the ALS/Enhance Team Leaders, Programme Coordinators, Transition Coordinators, and Enrichment Team to plan and deliver a wide range of extra-curricular activities for students with EHCPs. These activities should meet their specified outcomes, facilitate greater independence, and enable students with high needs funding and support needs to access learning and facilities, aiding transition, retention, and achievement. This role is a maternity cover and will be a fixed-term contract.

Main Responsibilities and Duties

The following outlines the main priorities expected of this role, as directed by your line manager. It is not an exhaustive list:

  1. Plan, facilitate, and deliver tailored workshops and 1:1 support meetings for students with SEND that promote independence and success in their chosen fields or daily lives.
  2. Facilitate the target setting process for individual students, collaborating with curriculum teams to use EHCP outcomes to set ambitious learning goals that enhance employment opportunities and independence. Attend review meetings and PCARs as needed.
  3. Liaise with Teachers and Learning Support Assistants to monitor student progress, identify required learning skills, and develop support programs accordingly.
  4. Utilise and develop learning resources, including assistive technology and online/remote resources, to help students overcome barriers.
  5. Review and develop strategies and interventions (e.g., Zones of Regulation) to support students' confidence and self-esteem.
  6. Assess, analyse, and report on students’ progress, attending reviews to measure the impact of interventions.
  7. Support processes for identifying student needs during interviews to plan support in advance of enrolment.
  8. Liaise with parents, carers, college staff, and external agencies to ensure a coherent support plan.
  9. Act as the main contact for students and families at key times, including facilitating Person Centred Annual Reviews (PCARs) and supporting transition.
  10. Promote the work of the ALS/Enhance team within college to foster an inclusive culture.
