Job summary

Lyde Green Primary School in the United Kingdom is seeking a Learning Mentor to join a busy, supportive team. You will plan and deliver targeted interventions, focus on behaviour improvement, and support pupils with emotional and educational development.

You will work under the SENCo and phase leaders, leading 1:1 and small-group sessions in literacy, numeracy and behaviour, while assisting teachers with planning and day-to-day classroom tasks.

Qualifications

• A good general standard of education (GCSE grade 4 or above in Maths and English).
• NVQ/VRQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification or equivalent.
• Ideally, additional NVQ qualifications or training in SEND interventions, or a willingness to work towards these.
• Knowledge of provision mapping processes and tools (desirable).
• Evidence of recent training and up-to-date knowledge in SEND practice.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils with SEND, Pupil Premium, and vulnerable learners.
• Promoting well-being, self-esteem, and positive behaviour.
• Contributing to the Assess, Plan, Do, Review cycle.
• Leading small group and 1:1 interventions in literacy, numeracy, and behaviour.
• Assisting teachers with planning, preparation, and classroom organisation.
• Supervising pupils during breaks, clubs, and trips.
• Building strong relationships with students, parents, staff, and third parties.
