Job summary

Frome College invites applications for a Learning Mentor to join the Pastoral team. The role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:15pm, providing pastoral and academic support and handling administrative duties.

You will be the first contact for students, parents and carers and will work to implement targeted interventions in the classroom and Refocus Room. The post emphasises calm, patient communication, accuracy in record-keeping and teamwork with SEND, Inclusion and Pastoral colleagues.

Qualifications

• Experience in supporting young people in pastoral or educational settings.
• Strong communication with students, parents, carers and staff.
• Excellent organisational and administrative skills.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Learning Mentor to join our Pastoral team working Monday - Friday 8:30am - 3:15pm. Learning Mentors are the first point of contact for students in responding to a range of pastoral, academic and general administrative enquiries and are a key contact point for parents and carers. The successful candidate will plan and deliver targeted interventions, both individually and in small groups, supporting strategies in the classroom and in our Refocus Room. The role also carries a strong administrative element, including maintaining accurate intervention and attendance records and administering our pastoral detention system.
Candidates should have expertise and enthusiasm for supporting young people, alongside strong organisational and administrative skills. Full training will be given to support the successful candidate in delivering interventions effectively. Strong communication skills, patience, empathy and accuracy in record-keeping will all be vital for this role. To be considered for the role you will need to be:

• Confident communicating with students, parents/carers and staff
• Comfortable with administrative systems and accurate record-keeping
• Able to remain calm and consistent when managing behaviour
• A team player, able to work closely with SEND, Inclusion and Pastoral colleagues

  Grade 3 Points 5 - 7 £26,427 - £27,274 per annum, pro rata

Actual Salary: £19,176 - £19,791, Salary from £19176 to £19791 per year
