Job summary

Marva Group Ltd in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a Team Leader for Learning Disability Services to guide a team of Support Workers across Newcastle and surrounding areas.

You will lead, mentor, and supervise staff, oversee care plans, and work with families and MDTs to deliver person-centred, safe, and compassionate care. PMVA training and driving licence required.

This role offers ongoing leadership development, career progression, and 24/7 on-call support.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 12 months experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities.
  • PMVA training required; strong behaviour management skills.
  • Driving licence and access to own vehicle.
  • Right to Work in the UK.
  • Experience leading, mentoring and supervising staff; formal or informal leadership accepted.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and day-to-day direction to support workers delivering care in the community.
  • Coordinate and oversee support plans to ensure person-centred, safe and effective care.
  • Mentor staff with hands-on support, coaching and reflective practice.
  • Conduct supervisions, spot checks, and competency assessments to maintain high standards.
  • Support with complex cases and model approaches to behaviours that challenge including PMVA/de-escalation.
  • Monitor digital care notes, risk assessments and incident reports for accuracy and compliance.
  • Liaise with families, carers and MDTs to promote positive outcomes and communication.
  • Contribute to rota planning to ensure coverage and continuity of care.
  • Promote a positive team culture with resilience, compassion and professional growth.

Are you an experienced Support Worker or Senior Support Worker ready to take the next step into leadership? Your Responsibilities as a Team Leader

As a pivotal member of our service, you will lead and support a team of Learning Disability Support Workers. Your key duties will include:

  • Providing leadership, guidance, and day-to-day direction to support workers delivering care in the community.
  • Coordinating and overseeing support plans, ensuring care is person-centred, safe, and effective.
  • Mentoring staff, offering hands-on support, coaching, and reflective practice.
  • Conducting supervisions, spot checks, and competency assessments to maintain high standards of care.
  • Supporting with complex cases and modelling effective approaches to behaviours that challenge, including the use of PMVA and de-escalation strategies.
  • Monitoring digital care notes, risk assessments, and incident reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Liaising with families, carers, and multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) to promote positive outcomes and smooth communication.
  • Contributing to rota planning, ensuring adequate coverage and continuity of care.
  • Promoting a positive team culture, encouraging resilience, compassion, and professional growth.

To succeed as a Team Leader, you must have:

  • Minimum 12 months experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor and supervise staff (formal or informal leadership experience considered).
  • PMVA training and strong behaviour management skills.
  • Experience delivering person-centred support and promoting independence.
  • Confidence using digital care systems for monitoring and reporting.
  • A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • Right to Work in the UK.

Desirable Qualifications

  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 (or working towards Level 4) in Health & Social Care.
  • First Aid trainingor equivalent.
