Job summary

Academics is seeking Learning Disability School Support Staff in Huddersfield to assist pupils with learning disabilities and additional needs throughout the school day. You will work with teachers and other staff to enable access to learning and help pupils communicate effectively.

The role emphasizes patience, empathy and building positive relationships, with duties including classroom and pastoral support and promoting pupil independence and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience in supporting children or young people with learning disabilities, SEND, or additional needs.
• Comfortable providing personal care and physical support where required.
• Able to build positive relationships with pupils and support their wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with learning disabilities and additional needs throughout the school day.
• Provide classroom and pastoral support to help pupils access learning and develop communication skills.
• Encourage pupils to participate, build confidence and work towards individual goals.
• Support personal care, mobility and daily routines when required, promoting dignity and independence.
