Job summary

The Gary Mather Centre in the United Kingdom is seeking a compassionate Support Worker to provide personalised support for adults with learning disabilities in a day centre setting. You will mentor, assist with daily activities and help promote independence, dignity, and growth within a supportive team.

This role also requires chaperone duties on transport and a full UK driving licence with D1 entitlement is preferred to drive a 17-seat minibus where required.

• Experience or interest in working with adults with learning disabilities.
• Strong mentoring skills with the ability to inspire confidence and trust.
• Passion for teaching and supporting personal development.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Compassionate nature with a patient approach to individual needs.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team within a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalised support to adults with learning disabilities ensuring their individual needs are met with empathy and understanding
• Assist with daily routines, including educational activities, leisure pursuits, and personal care when necessary
• Mentor and motivate individuals to develop confidence, social skills, and independence
• Support behavioural management strategies in line with organisational policies
• Collaborate with colleagues, families, and external professionals to deliver cohesive support plans
• Facilitate engaging activities that promote learning, creativity, and social interaction
• Maintain accurate records of support provided and progress made
• Promote a safe environment by adhering to health and safety guidelines at all times
