Job summary

North Lanarkshire Council, Dykehead Primary School, is seeking a Learning Assistant (Universal) to support children with additional needs in a school setting. You will assist with personal care, supervise arrival and departure, and help with classroom duties and materials. Recent experience with children in schools or voluntary work is essential.

PVG membership is required before starting. The role offers a pro rata salary and benefits, along with opportunities for learning through our NL Learn

Qualifications

• Recent experience working with children in a school or voluntary setting.
• Good communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
• Willingness to undertake NHS or Education training as required.
• Experience with children/young people who have additional needs is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist children in their school environment.
• Care for children and assist with personal hygiene needs.
• Maintain stocks of hygiene sundries.
• Reception and departure of children and messenger/escort duties.
• Prepare classwork and materials, set up teaching aids, and reprographic tasks.
