Job summary

Midlothian Council invites applications for a Learning Assistant ASN at Gorebridge Primary School. This fixed-term post offers 30 hours per week with shifts Monday to Thursday 08:30–15:30 and Friday 08:30–12:30, across 39 weeks per year.

The role includes supporting learners with additional needs and requires PVG clearance and SSSC registration within six months where applicable. Salary begins at the first point on the scale, with a 39-week working year.

Qualifications

• Basic literacy and numeracy to enable effective communication with staff and pupils.
• Familiarity with child development and responding to individual pupils.
• Willingness to undertake additional training (first aid, calm techniques).

Responsibilities

• Provide sensitive support to staff and pupils in a nursery or school setting.
• Undertake mandatory PVG checks and register with the SSSC (if Nursery environment).
• Complete any required training courses within the first year of appointment.
