Job summary

Novus is seeking a Learning and Skills Worker to deliver high-quality learning support within prison education at HMP Doncaster. You will work directly with learners to build confidence, develop essential skills and take positive steps towards future opportunities.

This permanent, full-time role offers 37 hours per week and includes a pathway to teaching through the Level 5 Certificate in Education, with potential specialisation in Maths or English.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to develop and work towards a Level 5 Certificate in Education
  • Willingness to develop a subject specialism in Maths or English
  • Aspiration to progress into a Maths or English Teacher role
  • At least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to a career in teaching
  • Have experience of conducting assessments and supporting learning of individuals and groups
  • Have experience of working with groups of learners with a range of abilities
  • Proven track record of achieving performance targets
  • Produce accurate and timely reporting
  • Demonstrate effective team working and interpersonal communication skills

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Doncaster, working as a Learning and Skills Worker. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

Site Information

HMP Doncaster is a category B local resettlement prison situated in South Yorkshire. The prison houses a male population. HMP Doncaster also operates as a resettlement prison working with prisoners, particularly those serving less than 12-months, to ensure that they have the support they need for resettlement as well as access to the services and support available to them after release.

Role Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be recruited as a Learning and Skills Worker, providing learning support with the aspiration to develop within teaching. You will provide support in the form of teaching cover while developing your skills and experience. When covering teaching sessions, you will be paid in accordance with teaching pay scales.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience
