Job summary

Thrive Oldham in Blaenavon, South Wales, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop and optimise manufacturing processes using lean techniques to improve quality, productivity and process capability. You will work with Operations and Quality to deliver optimisation, lead improvements, develop SOPs and control plans, and coach staff in waste reduction and lean principles.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in manufacturing engineering within precision engineering industries.
• Strong track record of reducing waste and cost through process improvements.
• Experience with PPAP, PFMEAs and SPC, using problem-solving tools.
• Capex project initiation and capital equipment implementation.
• Metrology familiarity and CMM programming experience.
• PLC programming and process machinery control knowledge.
• Lean six sigma driven with ability to train others.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and develop manufacturing processes across site.
• Collaborate with Operations and Quality to optimise quality, productivity and process capability using lean tools.
• Introduce and optimise new products on the plant.
• Design and monitor initial batches.
• Produce and coordinate documentation.
• Identify improvements and generate detailed plans.
• Lead projects to implement improvement plans.
• Monitor production issues related to process, product and equipment.
• Develop SOPs and quality procedures including control plans and PMFEAs.
• Educate staff to deploy lean tools and waste elimination culture.
• Set specifications and acceptance criteria for machines and equipment.
• Provide regular updates on milestones and benefits achieved.
• Undertake other tasks across the business.
