Chadwell Heath & Little Heath Training Grounds
Salary: London Living Wage

At West Ham United, we are proud of our Academy heritage and our commitment to developing the next generation of football talent.

We are looking for a passionate, driven and forward-thinking Lead YDP Performance Analyst to join our Academy Performance Analysis department, supporting the development of our Under-13 to Under-16 players.

This is an exciting opportunity for an analyst who wants to make a genuine impact within a professional football academy, combining technical expertise, creativity and leadership to help players and coaches achieve their potential.

If you see the game differently, love turning performance data into meaningful insight and want to play your part in developing future Hammers, we want to hear from you.

Reporting to the Head of Academy Performance Analysis, you will lead the delivery of performance analysis across our Youth Development Phase (YDP), supporting U13–U16 teams.

You will oversee the capture, management and delivery of video and performance data, providing high-quality pre- and post-match analysis aligned with the Academy Playbook.

You will also play a key role in individual player development, using analysis to support Individual Development Plans (IDPs), helping young players understand their performances and identify opportunities to improve.

As Lead YDP Performance Analyst, you will:

  • Lead the filming, capture, storage and management of YDP training and match footage and performance data.
  • Deliver high-quality pre- and post-match analysis using video and statistical insights aligned with the Academy Playbook.
  • Provide individualized analysis and feedback to players, including IDP-related video clips, statistics and performance insights.
  • Lead and oversee the consistency, quality and effectiveness of YDP analysis provision.
  • Identify performance trends, review best practice and provide longer-term insights to support player and team development.
  • Support, guide and develop student and junior analysts where required.
  • Contribute to the wider Academy Performance Analysis department and share knowledge across the programme.

We are looking for someone who combines technical knowledge with excellent communication skills, strong organization and a genuine passion for developing young footballers.

Essential experience and qualifications:
  • BSc in Sports Science, Performance Analysis or a related discipline.
  • Experience working in performance analysis within a football environment, ideally within an academy or professional football setting.
  • Knowledge or experience of analysis platforms such as Hudl, Catapult Focus, Impect, Opta or other relevant analysis software and data providers.
  • Ability to travel and commit to regular weekend work.

We are looking for someone who demonstrates:

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with players, coaches and colleagues.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail, with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Reliability, drive and a commitment to delivering consistently high-quality work.
  • The confidence and ability to lead, support and develop others.
  • A positive, proactive and solution-focused approach.
  • A genuine commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people.

Above all, you should identify with the values that make West Ham United:

TOGETHERNESS | HARD WORKING | EXCITING | ATTITUDE + | RESPECT

  • Competitive remuneration, with salary set at or above the London Living Wage.
  • The opportunity to lead YDP performance analysis within a professional football academy.
  • Regular supervision, mentoring and feedback from the Head of Academy Performance Analysis.
  • Support for continued professional development (CPD) throughout the season.
  • Opportunities to collaborate, learn across disciplines and build valuable professional relationships.
  • Additional benefits to be confirmed.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check, including a Children's Barred List check.
