Job summary

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service is seeking a Workshop Team Leader to oversee inspection and maintenance of fire appliances, vehicle fleet, marine assets and related equipment. Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you will lead a team of technicians, plan scheduled work and respond to un-planned tasks to support service delivery.

Applicants should hold a Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Heavy Vehicle), have HGV maintenance experience, be capable of supervising staff,

Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification or equivalent in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Heavy Vehicle).
  • Proven experience in HGV maintenance and repair with strong diagnostic skills.
  • Previous supervisory or chargehand experience is highly desirable.
  • Full UK driving license, with a class C license preferred.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations related to vehicle maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of technicians, providing guidance, support, and technical expertise.
  • Allocate tasks and ensure that work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Mentor staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, promoting safe working practices at all times.
  • Provide comprehensive, professional advice and support to the Service.
