Job summary

Malcolm Hughes Land Surveyors in Glasgow is seeking an experienced Project Manager – Utility Surveys to lead our Utility Survey Team. You will own projects from planning to delivery, oversee budgets, performance and client relationships, and guide surveyors on technical PAS 128 standards.

The role requires substantial utility surveying experience, leadership ability, and a proactive, commercially minded approach. Glasgow-based with travel to sites across the UK.

Qualifications

• Substantial utility surveying experience required.
• Strong knowledge of PAS 128 is essential.
• Experience with EML and GPR surveying is preferred.
• Experience managing or supervising projects and survey teams.
• Excellent client-facing and communication skills.
• Good commercial awareness and proactive approach.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple utility survey projects from instruction through to delivery.
• Plan survey resources, equipment, and programmes.
• Brief and support Utility Surveyors and Trainee Surveyors.
• Provide technical guidance on PAS 128 utility surveys.
• Review survey information and deliverables to maintain high standards.
• Maintain strong client relationships and act as main operational contact.
• Manage budgets, project performance, variations and profitability.
• Carry out site audits and ensure SHEQ requirements are met.
• Develop and mentor Glasgow utility team members.
• Improve survey delivery through better processes and technology.
