Job summary

Vector Recruitment Solutions Ltd is seeking a Senior Utility Surveyor to lead PAS 128 utility detection and topographical surveys across Scotland Central Belt and Northern England. You will conduct end-to-end subterranean mapping, set up control networks, and deliver high-quality CAD deliverables for infrastructure projects.

This role requires 3+ years field experience, a CSCS card, a full UK driving licence, and willingness to travel to multiple site locations with compliance to RAMS and safety

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of verified field experience in utility detection (PAS 128) and topographical land surveying.
• CSCS card and full clean UK Driving Licence required.
• Willingness to travel UK-wide and operate in live traffic and sites.

Responsibilities

• Execute PAS 128-aligned utility detection, tracing and mapping using EM locators, GPR and associated tools.
• Establish and verify survey control networks using robotic total stations and GNSS.
• Deliver topographical and laser scanning surveys with point-cloud registration and CAD deliverables.
• Lead site setups, manage RAMS and permits to work safely near live traffic and excavations.

A Leading Specialist in geospatial, utility, and civil engineering surveys is expanding its operations and seeking a highly skilled Utility Surveyor to cover regional infrastructure and development projects. This is a pivotal role offering the chance to spearhead high-profile PAS 128 utility detection, topographical mapping, and laser scanning programmes across critical UK assets.

The Opportunity:

You will play a vital role in executing end-to-end subterranean mapping, high-precision control, and site data capture. Your day-to-day remit involves:

• Executing PAS 128-aligned utility detection, tracing, and mapping using advanced electromagnetic locators (EML), signal generators, sondes, and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR).
• Establishing and verifying survey control networks utilizing robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, and digital precise levelling instrumentation.
• Delivering comprehensive topographical and laser scanning surveys, including point-cloud capture, registration, and quality-controlled CAD deliverables for construction and infrastructure environments.
• Leading site setups, managing risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and permits to work safely in proximity to live traffic, excavations, and operational sites.

Technical Essentials:

• Mandatory: Minimum 3+ years of verified field experience in utility detection (PAS 128) and topographical land surveying; CSCS card; Full clean UK Driving Licence.
• Compliance/Systems: Demonstrated mastery of EML, GPR, robotic total stations, GNSS networks, point-cloud registration software, and CAD platforms; adherence to safe systems of work and site risk management.
• Experience: Proven delivery across civil infrastructure, highways, commercial developments, and utility networks; hands-on capability in laser scanning and CCTV drainage inspection/defect coding is highly desirable.
• Mobility: Full UK mobility with willingness to travel to varied site locations as operational project requirements dictate.
