Job summary

Skillful is seeking a Lead Portfolio Analyst in the UK, with London or Hampshire base and a hybrid work pattern (2 days in-office). The role drives underwriting decisions by building and refining analytical models that influence coverage, rates, and portfolio footprint.

You'll lead projects, deliver sophisticated risk insights, and support junior analysts while collaborating with the underwriting manager and Chief Underwriting Officer.

Qualifications

• Experience in underwriting analytics, pricing, or data science.
• Ability to deploy models that inform real decisions and explain findings to senior stakeholders.
• Rigorous approach to risk and modeling and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Analyze portfolio performance and advise on coverage, rates, or footprint adjustments.
• Build fraud detection models and identify new risk signals at the point of quote.
• Collaborate with underwriters to improve risk assessment and decision making.
• Explore non-traditional data sources to sharpen underwriting decisions.
• Deploy models into production to influence live underwriting decisions daily.
• Mentor junior analysts and develop their analytical thinking.
