Job summary

Skillful is recruiting for an underwriting analytics role in London or Hampshire. You’ll build and refine analytical logic to help underwriters decide on coverage, rates and portfolio footprint. Expect ~70% individual work with 30% program leadership and mentoring of juniors.

You’ll analyse performance, develop fraud signals, deploy models into production and influence live policy decisions daily, partnering with senior stakeholders across the underwriting team.

Qualifications

• Experience in underwriting analytics and data science to improve coverage and rates.
• Ability to explain complex findings to senior stakeholders with clarity.
• Proficiency in Python or R and SQL; familiarity with modeling techniques like GBMs.

Responsibilities

• Analyze portfolio performance and identify where coverage, rates or footprint need adjusting.
• Build fraud detection models and identify new risk signals at point of quote.
• Collaborate with underwriters to improve risk assessment and decision making.
• Explore non-traditional data sources to sharpen underwriting decisions.
• Deploy models into production to influence live underwriting decisions daily.
• Mentor junior analysts and help develop their technical skills.
