Job summary

Skillful, a well-backed InsurTech, is seeking a Lead Portfolio Analyst in London or Hampshire with hybrid in-office work (2 days a week). The role sits in the underwriting team, refining analytics to optimize coverage, rates and portfolio footprint. You will collaborate with the underwriting manager and CIO to guide decisions on live policies.

The position combines hands-on modelling (70%) with leading projects and mentoring (30%), helping drive real underwriting outcomes daily.

Qualifications

• Experience across underwriting analytics, pricing and data science.
• Strong programming and data skills with practical modelling ability.
• Ability to explain complex findings to senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Analyse portfolio performance; adjust coverage, rates or footprint.
• Build fraud detection models and identify new risk signals.
• Work with underwriters to improve risk assessment.
• Explore non-traditional data sources to sharpen decisions.
• Deploy models into production to influence live underwriting.
• Mentor junior analysts and develop their skills.
