Job summary

CHEC is seeking a Theatre Lead to head the ophthalmic theatre team and uphold governance, clinical effectiveness and care standards. You will guide the team, oversee scrub procedures and ensure smooth operations for patients.

The role requires HCPC/NMC registration, extensive theatre experience, and a track record in management and staff development to drive safety and quality in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Registered practitioner with the NMC or HCPC.
• Considerable ophthalmic scrub experience.
• Passion for high quality patient safety and care.
• Degree level or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Be a visible leader for the hospital team, clinical & administration, encouraging development and motivation within the team.
• Oversee and undertake scrub procedures in ophthalmic cases, supporting the theatre team as a senior Theatre Lead and ensuring safe patient care.
• Support the Hospital Manager working with Facilities & Estates to ensure equipment is fit for purpose and use.
• Coach a diverse team to succeed in goals and maintain wellbeing.
• Lead your teams in CQC readiness and improvement plans, providing advice when required.
• Adhere to good record keeping and Information Governance rules.

Main duties of the job

The role will be leading the theatre department team and ensuring the day-to-day operation reflects the highest standard of governance, clinical effectiveness, and standards of care.You will be an experienced Theatre Practitioner or have had experience as a Lead or Senior Theatre Practitioner, using your advanced knowledge and experience to guide and support your team whilst actively being involved in the delivery of patient care.You will be responsible for the logistical and procedural processes within the team, ensuring policy and governance is strictly adhered to whilst maintaining the smooth operation of the team.

Person Specification

Experience

• To be successful in this role you will need:
• Registered practitioner with the NMC or HCPC
• Considerable experience working within a scrub role ideally Ophthalmic
• Passion for high quality patient safety and care
• Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience
• Previous management or team leader experience
• Teaching or coaching experience
• Previous theatre experience is required. Ophthalmic scrub experience is preferred but not essential as full training is available for suitably qualified RGNs / ODPs with at least 2 years post qualification clinical experience in a secondary care setting or similar.
