Job summary

BALFOUR BEATTY is seeking a Temporary Works Manager for the Lower Thames Crossing project. You will lead a team of Temporary Works Coordinators, ensuring on-site procedures are clear and followed, and act as the technical lead on temporary works design and buildability.

Ideal candidates will have civil/structural engineering degrees and 5–10 years in temporary works, with SMSTS and CSCS credentials. Join a major infrastructure initiative with a focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 5–10 years of temporary works experience.
• Experience in a senior or lead coordination role.
• Strong knowledge of BS 5975, CDM and industry best practice.
• Confidence to give technical challenge when required.
• SMSTS and a valid CSCS card.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of Temporary Works Coordinators.
• Ensure procedures are clear, followed, and implemented on site.
• Act as technical advisor on temporary works.
• Work with designers and delivery teams to ensure buildability.
• Plan and track temporary works designs, briefs, and approvals.
• Review complex (Category 3) designs.
• Monitor performance, standards and opportunities to improve.
• Conduct audits and raise the bar across the project.
• Support training, mentoring and competency development.
