Balfour Beatty is seeking a Senior Temporary Works Coordinator to lead on major infrastructure projects. You will bridge a gap between Temporary Works Management and field teams, ensuring safe, buildable, and compliant temporary works on site.
The role requires deep technical capability in temporary works, strong leadership, and the ability to drive standards across teams. A hands‑on approach with design review, problem solving, and timely decision‑making is essential.
We’re looking for a Senior Temporary Works Coordinator (STWC) to take a lead role on the Lower Thames Crossing — a major infrastructure project that includes new roads, complex structures, and the UK’s longest road tunnel under the Thames. On Roads North, the work is varied and technically challenging. You’ll be dealing with everything from deep excavations and ground support to bridge construction, heavy structures, temporary access and lifting, and tricky interfaces with existing infrastructure and utilities. A lot of it involves complex sequencing, so understanding how things fit together in practice is key. You’ll sit between the Temporary Works Manager and the Temporary Works Coordinators, helping to keep things consistent and under control across your area. It’s a hands‑on role — you’ll be in the detail when needed, reviewing designs, working through issues with teams, and making sure things are workable on site — but also setting expectations and keeping standards where they need to be.
We’re looking for someone who can operate confidently at senior level — technically strong, but also able to lead, influence, and make decisions.
