Lead Teacher of Personal Development

Are you passionate about shaping the personal development of young people? We are seeking a dedicated and inspirational Lead Teacher for Personal Development to join a secondary school community from September 2025.

In this exciting full-time role, you will be responsible for spearheading the strategic direction and delivery of the school's Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship, and Economic Education (PSHCE) programme. You will oversee the design, refinement, and successful implementation of a dynamic curriculum that meets the needs of all learners. A key part of your role will be to track and evaluate the impact of the programme on student progress and wellbeing, offering timely support and constructive feedback to maximise success.

Working collaboratively with staff across the school, you will champion best practice in teaching and learning, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and promote high standards of personal development. You will also play a vital role in strengthening partnerships with parents and the wider community to support the holistic development of every student.

  • Lead the strategic planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of the PSHCE curriculum across the school.
  • Monitor, track, and analyse student engagement and progress, ensuring interventions are implemented where needed.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to staff in delivering high-quality personal development education.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to embed personal development within the broader school ethos.
  • Coordinate whole-school initiatives, events, and assemblies related to student well-being, safeguarding, and citizenship.
  • Engage with parents, carers, and external agencies to enhance the effectiveness of personal development education.
  • Ensure the school meets all statutory obligations relating to PSHCE, RSE (Relationships and Sex Education), and British Values.
  • Contribute to whole-school self-evaluation processes and lead on aspects of personal development for Ofsted inspections.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of national guidance and research to inform innovative and effective practice.

  • Be an experienced and outstanding teacher with a proven track record in delivering PSHCE or related subjects.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Possess excellent communication and organisational skills.
