Job summary

Eden School in Macclesfield, part of Family Care, seeks a Lead Teacher with experience across KS2–KS4 in mainstream or special settings to lead teaching, learning and curriculum development, elevating educational quality.

You will work with the Headteacher to drive high standards, support disengaged learners, and apply a therapeutic approach to education. QTS is required, with SEN leadership experience.

Family Care is a small family-owned organisation providing specialist SEN education, fostering and residential care across the North West and West Midlands. We are committed to supporting vulnerable children and young people through nurturing, therapeutic services that have a lasting impact on their lives.

Eden School is a specialist independent school in Macclesfield where every child is valued as part of a close and supportive community. We provide individualised SEN education within a therapeutic learning environment for young people aged 6–16 with autism, ADHD, and/or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Pupils are taught in small classes of no more than six, each supported by at least one full-time Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to ensure a high level of personalised support.

We are seeking a Lead Teacher with experience teaching across KS2–KS4 in either a mainstream or special school setting, using a primary-style approach tailored to support individual learning and developmental needs. Alongside a full teaching commitment, the Lead Teacher will work closely with the Headteacher, taking a lead role in teaching and learning, curriculum development and the quality of education across the school.

What we are looking for:

• An excellent, innovative classroom teacher
• Experience of SEN teaching and leadership
• Experience of curriculum and/or subject leadership
• The ability to support and promote high standards of teaching and learning across the school
• A teacher who understands the importance of a therapeutic approach to education
• Qualified Teacher Status (required)
• Ability to teach a range of subjects (required)
• Relevant post-qualifying teaching experience (required)
• Experience of teaching children with SEN (required)

Additional Information:

• Term time only +5 inset days
