Job summary

Ultra is seeking a senior Systems Engineer to lead the Systems discipline on large, multi-disciplinary programmes in the UK. The role involves owning system work packages, guiding technicalDirection, aligning with architecture and assurance activities, and collaborating with hardware, firmware, and software teams to deliver compliant capabilities.

You will plan design reviews, manage technical risk, cost, and schedule, and mentor junior staff while supporting recruitment and STEM engagement.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or defence/aerospace experience.
• Significant experience in Systems Engineering, lifecycle, and capability delivery.
• Experience writing high-quality technical documentation and reviews.

Responsibilities

• Represents the Systems discipline as the lead Systems Engineer on a programme, owning work packages and ensuring deliverables meet quality, schedule and budget.
• Defines resources and delegates leadership for assigned work packages and assurance tasks.
• Lead design reviews to senior management and customers with clear, high-quality outcomes.
• Manage security of information per Security manual and maintain government compliance.
