Job description

LOCATION: This position requires on-site presence 5 days a week at a secure, controlled information facility in Sterling, Virginia.

CLEARANCE: Candidates must have an active US DOD TS/SCI security clearance.

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our agile teams working on complex DoD projects, specifically developing command and control (C2) software. The role involves supporting configuration management activities as part of a collaborative team, working alongside software developers and capability providers.

Role & Responsibilities:

  1. Establish and maintain documented CM procedures.
  2. Coordinate with IPT Leads to identify configuration items.
  3. Manage release of work products and changes.
  4. Facilitate CCBs, including rosters, agendas, minutes, and action items.
  5. Work with the COTS/FOSS Manager on asset baseline verification and archiving.
  6. Review CM activities with management.
  7. Monitor subcontractor CM activities for compliance.
  8. Train personnel in CM processes and tools.
  9. Generate and report CM metrics, maintain baselines.
  10. Assist in program completion activities and issue resolution.
  11. Contribute to the Software Version Description (SVD) documentation.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Minimum 8+ years of systems engineering experience (5+ with a STEM B.S.).
  2. Experience with classified DoD programs in secure facilities.
  3. Proven experience with configuration management procedures and documentation.
  4. Experience with DoD projects, especially C2 software.
  5. Experience leading or coordinating IPTs and facilitating CCBs.
  6. Familiarity with cloud platforms and deployment strategies (certifications a plus).
  7. Knowledge of COTS/FOSS management and asset baseline verification.
  8. Experience managing CM tools and workflow automation, including metrics reporting.
  9. Experience in system architecture development and artifact maintenance, including SVD.
  10. Experience with program gate reviews and appraisals.
  11. Must be a US citizen with active TS/SCI clearance.
  12. Ability to work onsite at Sterling, VA.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud-based C2 systems and geospatial info systems.
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies.
  • Experience working with contractors and monitoring compliance.
  • Ability to train personnel in CM processes.
  • Background in systems engineering for complex projects.
  • Knowledge of automation systems for mission planning.
  • Experience with program closure activities.
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle in an agile environment.
  • Knowledge of software architecture patterns.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Salary Range: $107,900 – $149,500 USD, influenced by experience and qualifications.
