Job summary

Kier is seeking a Lead Surveyor to join the Sizewell C team based in Suffolk. The role entails managing all engineering surveying activities, reporting to the Chief Engineer, and supporting a major civil infrastructure project on site.

You will be responsible for setting out works, maintaining survey control, producing drawings/reports, and coordinating with engineers and subcontractors to ensure accurate delivery. This is a hands-on, on-site position with a collaborative team.”

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or related discipline.
• Demonstrable experience in a similar civil engineering surveying role.
• Proficient in surveying and CAD software to produce technical documentation.
• Experience with modern survey equipment such as GPS/GNSS and automatic total stations.

• Undertaking setting out for civil works including earthworks, drainage, highways, and structures.
• Establishing survey control points, grids, and benchmarks for accurate delivery.
• Carrying out topographical, as-built, and monitoring surveys and producing accurate drawings/reports.
• Operating and maintaining surveying instruments and ensuring specifications/quality standards.
• Liaising with engineers, site managers, and subcontractors to support project delivery.

Job description

We're looking for a Lead Surveyor to join our Sizewell C team based in Suffolk.

Location: Kier Main Compound, Off A12, Kelsale, Suffolk
Hours: 45 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Kier are supporting the delivery of Sizewell C, a major 3.2-gigawatt nuclear power station under construction on the Suffolk coast in England. As Lead Surveyor, you'll report to the Chief Engineer within the Technical Delivery Team to manage all aspects of engineering surveying on this significant project. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a major infrastructure project whilst being part of a collaborative and supportive team environment.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Lead Surveyor, you'll be working within the Technical Delivery Team, supporting them in managing all technical aspects of this major civil engineering project. Your day to day will include:

• Undertaking setting out for civil engineering works including earthworks, drainage, highways, and structures
• Establishing and maintaining survey control points, grids, and benchmarks to ensure accurate project delivery
• Carrying out topographical, as-built, and monitoring surveys, processing data and producing accurate drawings and reports
• Operating and maintaining surveying instruments and ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards
• Liaising with engineers, site managers, and subcontractors to provide technical guidance and support project delivery

What are we looking for?

This role of Lead Surveyor is great for you if:

• You hold a Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or a related discipline
• You have demonstrable experience in a similar role within civil engineering projects
• You're proficient in surveying and CAD software to produce accurate technical documentation
• You have experience working with modern survey equipment such as GPS/GNSS and automatic total stations
• You have the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and contribute to an inclusive workplace
