Job summary

Kier, Sizewell C, is seeking a Lead Surveyor reporting to the Chief Engineer within the Technical Delivery Team to manage all aspects of engineering surveying on the project.

You will oversee setting out for civil works, maintain survey control, and coordinate with engineers, site managers and subcontractors, using AutoCAD and Trimble Business Center.

This role requires a Civil Engineering or related degree, proven surveying experience, and a proactive approach to safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or related discipline required.
• Proven experience in civil engineering projects.
• Proficient in surveying and CAD software.

Responsibilities

• Undertake setting out for civil engineering works including earthworks, drainage, highways, and structures.
• Establish and maintain survey control points, grids, and benchmarks.
• Operate and monitor procedures to ensure all works on site are set out in accordance with approved drawings and tolerances by the site engineering team.
• Maintain Survey management plans and processes.
• Line management to survey team as appointed including junior surveyors.
• Carry out topographical, as-built, and monitoring surveys.
• Process survey data using industry software (e.g., AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center).
• Produce accurate drawings, models, and survey reports.
• Check line, level, and dimensions of works on site.
• Identify and report discrepancies between design and site conditions.
• Support quality assurance processes and ensure compliance with specifications.
• Operate and maintain surveying instruments (GNSS, total stations, digital levels, laser scanners).
• Ensure all equipment is calibrated and functioning correctly.
• Liaise with engineers, site managers, and subcontractors to support project delivery.
• Provide technical guidance on setting out and survey-related issues.
• Comply with all health, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Carry out surveys in a safe manner and contribute to risk assessments and method statements.
• Maintain accurate field records, survey logs, and site documentation.
• Prepare and issue as-built records and handover data as required.
• Promote wellbeing and inclusive workplace culture.
