Job summary

Priory Newhouse in Kilmarnock, Scotland, is seeking a Senior Support Worker to join our team at Newhouse. The post offers full-time hours and a chance to contribute to compassionate, personalised care for adults with learning disabilities who may also have mental health needs or autism.

You will work with a dedicated team to supervise shifts, implement person-centred plans, and support residents to engage in meaningful activities while upholding dignity and safety.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Support Worker or Senior Support Worker is essential.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to supervise, coach, and motivate others.

• Knowledge of care standards, policies, and safeguarding practices.
• Reliable, flexible, and proactive in problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support the delivery of person-centred support and care.
• Provide leadership during shifts, including handovers, role allocation, and effective communication.
• Ensure residents have person-centred plans in place and are supported to participate in meaningful activities.
• Deliver team supervisions and contribute to professional development.
• Administer medication safely and in line with procedures.
• Manage service users’ finances and contribute to budget management in accordance with policy.
• Complete and oversee accurate record-keeping, reporting, and compliance with legislation.
• Monitor and support team performance, addressing immediate operational issues as needed.
• Maintain up-to-date training and knowledge to ensure safe and effective practice.
