Job summary

Airey Miller Group is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer in Greater London to lead and develop its growing structural team. You will deliver a diverse range of projects across residential, commercial and public sector environments, blending hands-on technical engineering with team leadership and client engagement.

You will manage budgets, review calculations and drawings, and mentor engineers toward chartership while working with architects, contractors and authorities to ensure high-quality

Qualifications

• Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (BEng, MEng, MSc or equivalent).
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with MIStructE or MICE membership.
• Significant structural engineering consultancy experience, ideally within a multidisciplinary environment.
• Proven experience leading, supervising or mentoring engineers.
• Strong technical knowledge of structural design, building inspections, condition surveys and defect investigations.
• Experience using structural analysis and design software, alongside CAD packages such as AutoCAD or Revit.
• Good understanding of Building Regulations, British Standards, the Building Safety Act and CDM Regulations.
• Strong communication, project management and commercial skills, including managing budgets and client relationships.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design, assessments and appraisals across new builds, refurbishments, extensions and change-of-use projects.
• Undertake and oversee structural inspections, condition surveys and defect investigations.
• Prepare and review structural calculations, drawings, technical reports and specifications, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
• Lead, mentor and develop a team of structural engineers, supporting their technical development and progression towards chartership.
• Manage project workloads, budgets, resources and delivery programmes, ensuring projects are completed to a high standard.
• Act as a key point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and providing clear technical advice.
• Prepare fee proposals, scopes of work and project documentation, ensuring commercial and technical requirements are met.
• Work collaboratively with architects, contractors, local authorities and multidisciplinary teams.
• Support business development activities, including tenders, client meetings and identifying new opportunities.
