Job summary

The Commercial Hotel is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to lead day-to-day kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef. You will mentor the team, design menus with the Head Chef, and ensure high-quality food and service across restaurant and events.

Strong focus on hygiene, cost control, and staff development. Expect a supportive environment with opportunities for training and progression, plus enhanced earnings through service charges and tips.

Qualifications

• Essential: Level 2 in food hygiene and experience with current legislation.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef and allocate tasks to the team.
• Maintain essential hygiene practices and food safety standards (HACCP, COSHH) with proper records.
• Plan and design daily specials with the Head Chef and coordinate with Front of House for events.
• Control food costs and work with suppliers to ensure quality while meeting budgets.
